We have been very happy with Double Mac Farms for kenneling our dog Tucker. I never have to worry about him not getting enough exercise and social interaction. Sue and John MacDonald have created a really special place for animals at Double Mac Farms. We have boarded our American Eskimo 'Chinook' with them several times and are pleased to be able to provide a reference for them. Chinook can be nervous with strangers and they took the time to coax him out and help him to socialize. It's true that there's no place like home but when Chinook needs to be boarded he adjusts well to being at the Farm with Sue and John. We greatly appreciate the individual care he receives. - J.S.

We've used Double Mac farms for 3 years and consider it to be the best place to take our dog. Hershey is always happy and gets very excited when we get there. The level of care is excellent and I recommend them to everybody I know that needs a place to have their dog kennelled. The place is always clean and well kept. Since moving to Prince George we have had the pleasure of boarding our dogs at Double Mac Farms. Sue and John have always been professional, friendly and extremely accommodating often taking in our dogs at the last minute. We had never used this type of open kennel concept before and were wondering just how it would work. We were thrilled with the result. Our young lab starts wagging his tail before he gets to the driveway and heads for John without missing a heart beat. Our feelings were a bit hurt when our pet didn't even give us a backward glance. When we pick him up he is exhausted from playing, but definitely one happy boy. We have also used the kennel on a day care basis and it has worked great as well. John and Sue provide a safe and happy environment and they have been flexible regarding accommodations during a recent family emergency. We recommend them highly. - B.B. & F.B.

Our golden retriever Abby has been going up to "the farm" ever since she was a puppy. She often goes for the day to help burn off some energy and sometimes for longer overnight stays. It has helped her grow up very well socialized with other dogs and she is always happy when we take her there. We are happy too, as John and Sue are great to deal with. - H.C.

In who's care I leave my dogs is a decision I take very seriously. I have been leaving my dogs in John and Sue's care at Double Mac Farms every year for 6 years. My dogs are never stressed when they arrive there and are happy to see John and Sue. When we pick them up they are happy and well exercised. It's like sending them to doggy camp, they have so much fun. I feel so confident they are properly cared for that I don't even feel the need to phone and check on them. That is a wonderful feeling that allows me to enjoy my holiday without worrying about my loved ones. Oh boy, there go the suitcases in the car, it is vacation time again! I am pumped, my blanket and food are being loaded into the van and I am called to jump in the van. We are off, the van has turned onto Cranbrook Hill Road, I start to wag my tail and bark as we crest the hill and pass the turn to Forest for the World turnoff. A run on the trails would have been fun but things are looking even brighter... yes, we are turning into the driveway of my home away from home, Double Mac Farms. I bark "let me out - I see my friends Sue and John." John greets me and he has cookies in his usual pocket, Sue promises to take me out for a run to chase the ball in the field and my friend Timber barks a greeting. Here's why I think your kennel is the best! At 6 years old, my dog, Jaxon, had never been to a kennel - basically because I was convinced he would be too much of a handful! Well, John and Sue were amazingly patient with meeting Jaxon (and I) before we committed to staying and by allowing him to socialize with their dogs they immediately reassured me that he would fit in fine. It really is a great feeling when your dog is happy to go to the kennel and to know that while he is there, he is being well cared for... and there is the added benefit of also knowing that when you get home - he will be happily tired for the next day or two. Now, three years later - I actually turn down offers from friends to dog-sit when I go out of town because I know Jaxon prefers to be at Double Mac! - Kat

Maggie and Lady have been going to Double Mac Farms for three years. I really enjoy bringing them there. John is so friendly and he always remembers the dog's likes and dislikes. He tells stories about other dogs and I always feel that he really loves looking after animals. I like the fact that the dogs are able to run around in the fields and that they are not cooped up in cages. I will continue to bring my dogs to Double Mac Farms and I strongly recommend that other people should bring their animals there. - R.N.

I heard about John and Sue from a friend, and have since recommended them to many others. They have taken excellent care of all three of my dogs, who jump out of my car and don't look back when I drop them off (talk about guilt-free travel!). From the 8 month old puppy to the 11 year old senior citizen, John and Sue cater to their different needs, and that includes ear drops and pills when needed. I don't have to worry about my "kids" when I leave them at Double Mac, and I know they'll come home exhausted and happy. - Z.R.
